Fellow of Communications

Welcome back, readers! Another school year is in full swing, and the O’Pake Institute for Economic Development and Entrepreneurship is ecstatic for the new and returning fellows to fill our offices. Fall has arrived in Berks County. There’s a crisp chill in the air, leaves are falling, and Halloween is coming soon. So what fun events are happening in your backyard to get into the fall mood?

West Reading Farmers’ Market

An annual local favorite, the West Reading Farmers’ Market, now runs on Sunday mornings, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Sixth and Penn Avenue in West Reading. This event will conclude in November, so go while you can. Enjoy fresh food and ingredients from local producers. The selection of food is overwhelming, so expect to leave with a bag full of delicious food!

Mosaic Church Fall Fest Event

On Oct. 18 at 3 p.m., the Mosaic Church in Wyomissing is hosting a fall fest celebrating the season and the upcoming Halloween. There will be plenty of activities for kids and adults alike: a trunk-or-treat, a bounce house, an obstacle course and free food. Connect with other families and experience the community of people in Wyomissing!

Local Farms & Pumpkin Patches

One of the best fall activities is visiting local pumpkin patches with family and friends. Some local places to visit include Weaver’s Orchard, Wilcox Farms, Brecknock Orchard, and Duncan’s Cornmaze and Pumpkin Patch! Grab your friends, get a sweet treat, and enjoy the scenic fall views at these local places.

O’Pake Fall Gatherings

The O’Pake Institute for Economic Development and Entrepreneurship will host several gatherings, professional development, and networking events throughout the fall season. Be sure to reach out to the staff or, as a fellow, your graduate assistant for more information. The Institute recently held a ribbon-cutting event for the new O’MAKE Space, giving fellows another creative outlet! Be sure to check it out the next time you visit ˮ’s CollegeTowne.

O’Pake is wishing everyone a happy fall season!
